I have seen this several times...

pkg/49286 (bask package does not register proper version)

update pkgsrc, do an install in a pkgsrc package directory that has old
package built, and infrastructure reports new version but package
database shows the old package.

It seems like it would be simple of the pkgsrc package version to be
compared with the package to be generated and also again when installed.
(If not done already) Install (assuming default of using binary) should
use
the complete file name with the version and if that file doesn't exist
then it would fail there.
